Circle of Joy

The Circle of Joy initiative is specifically designed to create a supportive community for young black women and girls. It was born out of my personal experiences growing up as the only black girl in my elementary classes. Many times, I felt like an outcast and desired to be around more women that looked like me. This sense of isolation now has driven me to create a safe space where women like me could feel a sense of belonging and representation.

Our inaugural event featured an intergenerational panel discussion covering topics such as overcoming obstacles, maintaining mental health, and achieving success as black women. Sponsored by the Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium, the Pete and Thomas Foundation, and Nike, the event left participants feeling inspired and empowered to pursue their dreams. This initiative aims to provide a platform for black women and girls to connect, learn from one another, and thrive in a supportive environment.
