Congratulations! You made it halfway through 2024, but if you’re like me, you haven’t even come close to reaching your goals for the year. You may have given up or gotten distracted from your original plans, but guess what? It’s not too late! Just start over. Take this opportunity as a mid-year reset. Now is the time to turn a new leaf, recognize the past, and push forward. So, here are a few steps to a mid-year reset:

  1. Reflect First, we must reflect. Remember when you created your vision board and New Year’s resolution? This is the time to bring those back out. Reflect on what you have and haven’t achieved, acknowledge your progress, and congratulate yourself for making it this far. You made it halfway through this year, so say, "I am proud of myself," and move forward.

  2. Re-establish Now is the time to reset, so we are re-establishing our goals. Take this time to rewrite your goals and maybe even create new ones. Create a visual to remind yourself of what you would like to achieve. You may even want to create a new vision board to encourage yourself to start over.

  3. Write a Plan One of the many reasons people don’t achieve their goals is because they don’t have a plan. Create a practical strategy to achieve each goal. One of the most successful ways to write a plan is to follow the S.M.A.R.T. goals guide. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based. Here are a couple of questions to aid you in creating a S.M.A.R.T. plan:

  • Specific: Is your plan clear and detailed? What exactly are you trying to achieve?

  • Measurable: How will you know when the goal is achieved?

  • Achievable: Is your goal attainable? Do you believe you can achieve it?

  • Relevant: Is your goal important to you?

  • Time-based: Can you achieve your goal within your specific time frame?

  1. Take a leap Getting started is one of the hardest parts of this journey, so the best way to start is to just do it! If one of your goals is to start a new hobby, take this time to sign up for an art class. If you want to eat healthier, buy some fruits and veggies. Take one step at a time; eventually, you’ll find yourself walking in with what you want to achieve.

  2. Get Motivated Encourage yourself! You are doing something that many people don’t do: you’re not giving up! You’re doing what it takes to become who you want to be!  Remember, there is no real timeline, but it’s always the perfect time to work on your best self! You can do this!

I hope this encourages you. Remember, it’s never too late to achieve your goals!
